Journal Presentation Competition

INSIGHT

INSIGHT has been concieved with the aim of developing academic prowess and technical acumen in medical students new to the world of medical research. It involved selecting an appropriate research paper from the cited sources, and then presenting the selected paper at JUBICON 2024.

This allows the delegate to explore the methodologies and research questions behind well-respected papers and gain experience in presenting their work.

Theme: Maternal and Child Health

Abstract submission deadline: 20th September 2024

Participants:

  • Who all can participate in the event?
    All undergraduate students from medical colleges registered and accredited by the NMC are invited.
    All participants must be registered for JUBICON 2024.
    This is an individual event.
    Participants will be selected for presentation on the basis of abstracts submitted before 20th September 2024.

  • Guidelines:
  • THEME – MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
    Delegates must select one published research article from a Pubmed indexed journal that adheres to the theme ‘Maternal and Child Health’.
    Study designs prefered are cross-sectional, case-control and cohort studies.

             Time allotted: 7 minutes + 2 minutes for discussion

  • Rules for Submission of Blind Abstract:
    Word Limit: 400 words (of which critical appraisal should be of at least 100 words)
    File type: docx.
    Font and Size: Times New Roman, Size 12

Title page:
Details of participant – Full name, Name of Institution, Year of study, Email ID of the participant.
Abstract (on next page):
Title
Authors’ name and designations (of selected paper)
Name of Journal, Volume, Issue, and Page number
Background: Brief overview of the topic and the significance of the study.
Objectives: Summarize the objectives of the study.
Methodology: Explain the materials and methodology used.
Results: Key findings of the study can be covered.
Conclusion
Critical appraisal:
Strengths and weaknesses of the study should be mentioned.

Hints:
Whether the study design and results have justified the objectives.
Whether appropriate inclusion/ exclusion criteria were used.
Gaps in literature, impact and other limitations of the study may be commented on.
Impact: Explain the impact this study might have.
