IMPASSE 2.0 is a debate competition designed to test how well you think, argue and respond when the pressure is on. Two sides. One motion. No room for weak reasoning.

The
Screening
The preliminary round will be conducted through participant-submitted videos. Teams will receive a topic on a chosen day, with one participant arguing for the motion and the other arguing against it.
The
Showdown
The three strongest teams enter the final showdown. Speakers are assigned to opposing sides, creating three head-to-head debate cycles.
First
The Screen.
Your first test is not on stage. It is on camera. Think fast, build your case and deliver it before the clock runs out.
The screening will be conducted using a video sent by the participants.
Participants must be registered for JUBICON and must register as a team of 2.
During registration, both team members must fill in the Google Form with their name, contact details, teammate's details and team name.
The topic will be announced on a chosen day after registrations. One participant speaks for the motion and the other speaks against it.
The video must be recorded in landscape format and submitted within one hour of the topic announcement.
Each participant must not speak for more than 2 minutes.
Both participants must be visible in the video.
Notes can be used, but reading directly from them is discouraged.
Clear audio and video are preferred.
The results of the prelims will be intimated to the participants.

Content
Content and relevance of the arguments presented by the participants.
Persuasion
Persuasiveness and impact of the arguments, including the ability to make a compelling case.
Delivery
Clarity and effectiveness of delivery, including confidence and communication.
Three Teams.
Two Sides.
The final three teams will enter the arena. Members of the same team will not speak opposite each other. The three teams will be designated A, B and C, with each speaker assigned 1 or 2.
Opening
Statements
The “for” side speaks first, followed by the “against” side. A1, B1 and C1 will present their opening statements, followed by A2, B2 and C2. Each speaker gets 2 minutes.
Main Argument
+ Rebuttal
Each speaker gets 2.5 minutes for the main argument and 3 minutes for rebuttal. The opposing speaker responds directly to the points just presented.
Point.
Counterpoint.
A1 delivers the main argument. A2 rebuts. A2 then presents the main argument, followed by A1's rebuttal.
The same argument-and-rebuttal structure is followed for the second debate cycle.
The final head-to-head cycle completes the three debate battles.
